SWEDEN: Automation upgrade agreed for Kumla facility

Sakab’s two-line waste incinerator in Kumla is to be overhauled under a contract announced by ÅF that will see new automation equipment installed.

The work, which is expected to start in September, will replace five ABB SattGraph 5000 units with one ABB 800xA.

The work, which also covers updating IT to run the new system, will take three years to complete.

The first line of the plant, built in 1983, processes waste oil, solvents, paint, glue, pesticide residues and waste containing PCBs. Its second line, put into operation in 2003, takes impregnated wood and certain plastics, as well as industrial and household waste.
