UK: Feedstock boost for biogas and EfW plants over Hinkley Point C deal

Viridor has said it is working with EDF Energy to deliver a zero to landfill goal during the construction of nuclear power station Hinkley Point C.

In a two-year contract, Viridor will deliver integrated waste management services from the waste arising from the site and all associated infrastructure operations.

The deal will see food waste transferred to Viridor’s biogas facility at Walpole in Somerset, mixed dry recycling sorted through the Priorswood MRF in Taunton and non-recyclables to EfW recovery facilities, including the Avonmouth when it is operational next year.
