Netherlands: AEB issues biomass-fired plant update

All 492 foundation piles of AEB’s biomass plant are in the ground, the company has confirmed on social media.

According to the company, the construction is on schedule and the plant should be ready in the "middle of next year".

Precise details of the plant are not clear, but AEB says the construction and operational phase have been financed by the ASN Bank.

AEB has said the plant is backed by the SDE+ subsidy and will process up to 110,000t/yr of "low-grade pruning and waste wood" to generate 935TJ of power for the city of Amsterdam.

Feedstock would be sourced from within a 150-kilometre radius of Amsterdam and feedstock contract have been signed with three suppliers for 12 years.
