The EcoGenerator EfW plant in Szczecin processed 40,000 tonnes of waste in the first three months of the year, up from 30,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
The plant expects to accept its design specification of 150,000 tonnes of waste from across Western Pomerania and beyond by the end of 2019. It will produce 70-80 gigawatt-hours of electricity and 400-600 terrajoules of heat, according to its president Tomasz Lachowicz, enough for 30,000 flats.
The plant mostly burns sorted municipal waste, with some refuse-derived fuel and unsorted waste. It was commissioned in December 2017, processing 115,000 tonnes of waste in its first year.
