Anaerobic digestion (AD) plant owner Biogen has swooped on another facility to expand to 14 its portfolio of operational plants.
In a statement, issued on 8 November, Biogen said it bought the 1.1MWe facility, located in Weston-super-Mare, from Enovert for an undisclosed fee.
Enovert has previously said the facility treats about 12,000 tonnes a year of food waste collected from households across North Somerset.
Biogen managing director, Adam Feneley, said: "This is an ideal addition to the Biogen portfolio and provides exposure to a new geographic region for the business."
Enovert also operates a number of landfill management facilities where it processes landfill gas, but ENDS understands this was its only AD facility.
In February 2018, Biogen took over Tamar Energy, creating a portfolio of 13 biogas facilities and six composting plants. It also has at least one facility in development, which is located in West Boldon.
